So, there are people in my place of employment who think we should change everything my department does when they have not worked in my department. Recently, a few loud mouthed people have stated that we should use Survey Monkey in the place of our current survey software. I did some research and found a few differences:
1). Survey Monkey is free, but the free version only gives you 100 responses. After that, you’re charged money for each additional response (we have close to 4k responses for our course survey alone)….
2). Survey Monkey is not what our ENTIRE university uses for these surveys we send out so we would have to pay for this out of our pocket…. a whopping 780 bucks a year….not good for a poor state funded school (i.e. we have no money to spend)
3). Survey Monkey doesn’t seem to allow for the level of detail we go into… We ask how much someone agrees to a statement and how important said statement is to them. (I mean, why do you spend time to change things if no one cares)….
Those are the three points I’ve found after only 15 minutes of searching…
Seriously, I understand that these people want to change things because they don’t like the results they currently see, but unless you are willing to do what I do while I do what you do…. STFU….
Otherwise, live with it and don’t be afraid to accept that you aren’t doing things right and FIX them!!!!!
And try not to trip over my soapbox as you walk out….
